Crowns & Veneers
Veneers are used to change the shape of your tooth and whiten the colour. You can do one tooth or a segment of teeth to completely change the way you smile. We use quality dental labs that create beautiful, natural looking porcelain veneers for our patients.
Crowns are used to support a tooth and decrease the tooth’s chances of fracturing.
This is especially true when a tooth has been heavily filled or root filled and the remaining tooth is weak or there is not enough tooth structure left to hold in filling.
Crowns are also used for aesthetic reasons when we need to change the shape or colour of a tooth.
Dental crowns (often referred to as ‘dental caps’ or ‘tooth caps’) cover over and encase the tooth on which they are cemented.
Crowns are used to rebuild broken or decayed teeth, as a way to strengthen teeth and as a method to improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.
The type of crown your dentist recommends will depend on the tooth involved and sometimes on your preference, and include porcelain crowns, porcelain-bonded-to-metal crowns, which combine the appearance of tooth coloured material with the strength of metal, gold alloy crowns and acrylic crowns.
At Beacon Cove Dental, we opt for onlay crowns as much as possible. We do this to preserve as much tooth structure as possible. Learn more about onlay crowns in the video below.
We will always need to see you first for a consultation as to what options are available to you, so call us on 9646 1599 to get started.
